I agree - the more you drive it, the better it runs. I bought my '86 last spring with 20,000 km - sluggish acceleration, lots of pinging under load, lots of backfiring on deceleration. But I drive every day, and the more miles I racked up, the better it started to run. I've got 32k on it now, the backfire is more of a rumble, the ping is gone, but it still 'farts' sometimes when I shut it off - especially if the engine is good and hot. The bike gets a little grumpy if I go a few days without a good hard run (not counting winter, whihc we are in the middle of: -25 C not counting windchill...)

I also believe in running a fresh plug and usually pop a new one in every second oil change (would be more often except its a pain taking everything apart just to get at it).
